Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

Yamba Public School's SRE Permission note

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the  online form  available at participating schools.

At Yamba Public School, SRE for Years K-6 are delivered weekly at 11.30am on Mondays. The following SRE classes are offered:  Combined Christian  SRE.

Combined Christian SRE is provided by SRE teachers from different Christian denominations and churches. The approved providers in this combined arrangement are listed below. All Christian SRE teachers are authorised and trained by an approved provider.

With SRE teachers from local churches, students ask questions, explore the Bible and discover the Good News of Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian in our world today. Lessons are age-appropriate, fun and inclusive. View the curriculum here GodSpace

During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending will be located in a separate space and will participate in meaningful activities which may include reading, private study or completing homework.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education or special education in ethics option for your child from the school’s available approved providers.

High potential and gifted education

At our school, we give the right support to help gifted learners to grow and do their best.

We notice these students early. They may learn quickly or show strong skills in creativity, leadership, problem solving or sport. We help them stay challenged with lessons and activities that match their strengths.
