Kiss and Drop explained and safety tips
The Kiss and Drop Zone is an area near the school gates that enables you to drop your child off safely and quickly. The intention is that drivers do not wait in these zones and that they stay in the vehicle so that drop off is streamlined and traffic queues are minimised. Maximum of 2 minutes in the kiss & drop zone.
Yamba Public School has only 2 car bays in the Kiss and Drop Zone. The Kiss and Drop Zone is located at the far end of the Bus Zone between the white and red signs.
We want to ensure that no child is hit by a car when going to and coming from school. You need to take extra care when driving and parking around school zones. Make sure you and your child understand the road rules. If you break the traffic rules in a school zone you are putting children at risk.
Yamba Public School's Policy in consultation with Clarence Valley Council:
- Kiss and Drop Zone is a "No Parking" area.
- Move entirely into and to the extreme end of the bay, be aware that there is only 2 Kiss and Drop bays. A maximum of 2 minutes in Kiss &Drop zone, if there is no available space continue out and park in the southern car parking bays or Service Road across from the school.
- Drivers should remain in their vehicles and all times.
- When you leave home ensure children are in their seats with their bags with them. Bags should not be in the back of the car unless you are parking in the designated parking areas.
- Make sure children use the footpath side of the door when getting in and out of the car.
- Do not park or drop off in the Bus Zone at anytime. As it can hold up the bus and traffic flow.
- Never double park.
- If the Kiss and Drop Zone is full or you wish to get out of the car, drive to the 8 car parking bays further up. Or park on the other side of Angourie Road.
- When crossing Angourie Road, please use the crossing, we need to set good examples for our children.
- Consider not using the Kiss and Drop if your child is not capable of getting out of the car themselves.
- Do not park in Staff Car Park.
Please be respectful of other drivers, children and volunteers.
